As some of you know, we moved into temporary housing a few days ago while waiting for our house to close. We don't have a lot of supplies with us for cooking, so I thought you might enjoy a stroll down memory lane with my Fave Five Food Fun Friday Features. Say that 10 times fast.
Apple Pie Crescents
This is certainly a personal favorite for me because they are so delicious. I could seriously make an entire package of these and consume them myself. But if you are not a glutton like I am, these are super easy to make with kids. They can help fill and roll the crescents with the yummy apple pie filling. I can't imagine my kids eating a piece of apple pie, but they sure love Apple Pie Crescents.
Fall Scene
If you have picky eaters like me, then you know the lengths you will go to in order to try to get your kids to eat. I have been known to create some "food art" in an effort to pique my little ones' interest. It doesn't always work, but it does break up the monotony of meal time. I only do this once in a while, but they are always fun to put together. Fall Scene was a favorite of mine since I used things I already had at home which is always a plus in my book.
Marshmallow Sugar Pops
Want a sweet treat that is quick to make but will impress the socks off your guests? Look no further! The key to these easy pops are lollipop sticks and brightly colored sugar. These are easy enough for kids to make, yet sophisticated enough to serve to adults. Warning: your tongue WILL be colored after eating this. Just go with it.
Valentine Swirl Cupcakes
Think these are only for Valentine's Day? Think again. We made these using squirt bottles and red and pink batter but you can customize them for what ever occasion you might be celebrating. The fun thing about the swirl cupcakes is that it's difficult to mess them up, which makes them perfect for little hands. Squirt some colored batter into a cupcake tin in different layers and bake. Pretty easy, huh?
Painting Popcorn
Why not turn snack time into art time? You can do that with this simple activity. Just mix some food coloring with some milk and have the kids paint the popcorn with a brush. They will love their colorful snack.
Thanks for following Food Fun Friday. I hope to share more food memories and ideas with you all!
