Here are the supplies you will need:
Paper (we used construction paper)
Glue (we used a brush and glue in a cup because my daughters aren't strong enough to squeeze glue from the bottle)
Cut up colored straws
Pretty simple, no?
Just let the kids express their creativity. Not much instruction on this one. Simply let the kids glue some straws to the paper to create one-of-a kind works of art. The girls experimented with the amount of glue they should be using. They discovered if they did not put enough glue, the straws would not stick. I love children's art activities that allow kids to explore cause and effect.
B is careful to stick her straws together to make a straight line.
Lil C goes to town with her glue. She thought this was a painting project at first and just started painting the paper with glue. She was getting some nice results, but she is a quick study and looked at what her sisters were doing and started copying them.
"A" adds another straw to her design.
I'd say I got my money's worth out of these straws, what about you?
If you have older kids, check Counting Cheerios to see how you can use straws a box to make a maze.
