It's been a while since we used our shaving cream, so I paired it up with some food coloring in a muffin tin to make an artist's palette. We started off painting on paper, but as you will see, the girls got some other ideas.
Supplies You Will Need:- Muffin Tin
- Shaving Cream
- Food Coloring
- Brush
- Paper
Start off by spraying some shaving cream in each spot of the muffin tin.
Next add your food coloring and mix. We wanted a variety of colors and the kids had fun telling me what colors to mix together to make purple and orange.
Then give you kids their "palette," a brush and some paper and watch them create.
Little C is deep in concentration.
The paintings had some great texture. When they dried, the puffiness reduced a bit, but the kids still enjoyed the sensory experience of touching the artwork.
After she was done painting on paper, "A" got her hands dirty and started experimenting with painting the table.
Of course B followed suit.
And Little C joins in the fun.
"A" decided she would try and cover up her whole side of the table.
I like how the kids extended this activity themselves. My girls have been a bit skittish in the past about textures and different things they touch so I was happy to see them approach this art and sensory activity with gusto.
Great if you have a glass table!! Not so much if you don't, lol...
ReplyDeleteWas the shaving cream thick enough on the table for them to write letters in it?
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
ReplyDeleteI've done this, but I have left the shaving cream white and dropped food colouring onto their paper for them to mix it in, I like this idea too!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like so much fun! I want to come to your house. :-)
ReplyDeleteFun idea! Love the colors!

Oh fun! I have painted with shaving cream before and mixed it one part shaving cream to one part white glue. Then it dries puffy!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like your kids had soo much fun with this activity! How easy to get it all ready too:)
ReplyDeleteCute! Thanks for sharing! Smiles, Jill
ReplyDeleteThis looks like SO much fun!! I wish I had a glass instead of a wood table thou;)
ReplyDeleteSuper fun. We do this in the bath since we just use Hubby's stinky shaving cream and don't want the whole house smelling of pine-scented-what-have-you! ha ha Makes for easy clean up, too! But we do have a glass coffee table and now you're inspiring me .... :-)
