Recently, my 2 year old daughter, had the chance to play with the new LeapFrog Animal Adventure Learning Table (retails for $39.99). If you have kids, you are probably not unfamiliar with the learning table concept. I had one in the past for my older kids, and I was surprised at how far this kind of table has come in the last few years. I feel like this new table is more intuitive and engaging than those of the past.
The LeapFrog Animal Adventure Learning Table is recommended for kids ages 6-36 months. It really is a toy that will grow with your child. For itty bitty ones, the table can be used without the removable legs, making it perfect for kids who are learning to sit up. They can just lay or sit on the floor and play with it there. As your child grows, you can add the legs and the table will be something they use to pull up and lean on. I remember my twins loving their learning table when they were just starting to walk, since they could feel independent as they leaned against it and played.
As your child becomes more adept at walking, you will love how the LeapFrog Animal Adventure Learning Table teaches important skills like numbers, shapes, colors, ABC's, opposites, motor skills and animals. The table contains over 100 songs and learning responses, so it will take your child a while to discover everything the table can do. My daughter has been playing with it for a week and I still don't think we have heard everything.
Her favorite thing to do is play with the light up drum in the center of the table. It helps reinforce counting and color concepts. My daughter loves tapping and patting it as she works on her rhythm.
You know how I mentioned how the table is recommended for ages 6-36 months? Well, don't tell that to my 4 year old twins. They have been loving the table as much as their younger sister. But that hasn't been a problem as the table is large enough and has 7 activity areas so there is plenty for even 3 kids to do.
The LeapFrog Animal Adventure Learning Table is even helping us work on sharing. You didn't think my three kids would play at the table without incident did you? We have had a few instances of sisters not sharing, which has sparked a dialogue about taking turns and working together. I would call that an unexpected benefit!
