Lemon Bar Crescent Recipe - Food Fun Friday

These are perfect warm for breakfast or as a snack. My kids devoured them. Simple to make using crescent rolls and lemon creme.

I wanted to surprise my kids with a special snack when they came home from school. I always have some crescent rolls on hand so it was just a matter of coming up with a way to prepare them. If you are new to Mess For Less then you might not know that I have done lots of crescents roll recipes in the past. From Apple Pie Crescents to Fruit Filled Crescent Cups, I find crescents so versatile and delicious. When I looked in my pantry I saw I had some lemon creme that I bought to make lemon bars. Since I didn't have the time to make actual lemon bars, I decided to try to make some using crescent rolls. This lemon bar recipe took under 25 minutes from start to finish, so it's perfect family friendly recipe for when want something special but don't have a lot of time.
You will need:
  • Tube of crescent rolls
  • 6 tablespoons of powered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • Lemon creme
  • A few squeezes of fresh lemon juice

Open up the tube of crescents and unroll them. Take four of the crescents and roll them flat.

Seal together the perforations with your fingers to create a rectangular sheet of crescents. Do the same with the remaining four crescents and put that sheet aside to use for the top layer.

Place one sheet on the bottom of a greased pan.

Spread a layer of lemon creme on the crescents. Next time I make these, I will put a thicker layer than I did here. Really slather the stuff on there.

Place the second sheet or crescents on top of the lemon creme filling.

Bake according to crescent roll package directions. I put some foil on top for the last few minutes of baking so the top wouldn't get too brown.

In a small bowl, combine 6 tablespoons of powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon of water and a few squeezes of lemon juice and mix until smooth. Use a spoon to drizzle the icing over the top of the lemon crescents.

Slice into bars and serve. My kids gobbled these up! They make a great snack for kids and we had them for breakfast the next day as well. The taste and texture reminded me of a lemony danish.

  4. looks yummy. I have a question about Pinterest. I went to follow you and was looking around and when I saw that you had 137k pins on your Food Recipes board, I had to investigate. I was disappointed because they all seem to be duplicates. Some are even duplicated 10, 15, 20 times! Maybe more but I quit looking. I'm confused. Why have so many duplicates of the same recipes?

    1. Mary, thanks for the response. I hope you will follow me on Pinterest. The FoodRecipes board is not my board just one that I contribute to on occasion. I have never pinned anything of mine there more than once. If you see an icon that has a bunch of people in the right hand corner of the boards when looking at my board list, that means it is a group board with multiple contributors. The only reason I can think of for the multiple pins is that people see yummy recipes and pin them to that board not knowing that they were already pinned. That would be something for the moderator (which I am not) to deal with. When you follow my entire account, you do not follow any boards I am a contributor to so those pins would not be in your feed. The stuff I pin to the board would be visible to you and I maybe pin 3 a week to that board. Hope this clears things up. Let me know if you have any questions.

  5. What is lemon creme? I have never seen it in any supermarket in the Northeast. Where would I Iook for it in the store? PS I am also a former preschool teacher with a Masters in Education, and yes, nothing prepares you for your own kiddies!
