Learning Tablets and Kids #sponsored

These days it seems like almost every kid and their dog has a learning tablet. We were hesitant about getting my kids a tablet to share since we were worried about them having too much screen time and not enough play and creative time. It turns out we were wrong to be worried. With proper supervision, limits and interaction, a learning tablet can be a great resource.

Here are some guidelines if you are thinking about purchasing a learning tablet for your child.

Limit the time they spend on it - My kids (four year old twins and a three year old) share their learning tablet and use it a few times a week for no more than 15 minutes at a time. Find a schedule that seems reasonable to you and your child and stick with it. A kitchen timer works well for us so each child gets an equal amount of time to play.

Pick games responsibly There are a variety of games out there and they all won't be appropriate with your child's skill level. A learning tablet like the LeapPad Ultra has access to over 800 educator approved games and apps, so the guesswork is gone. You can feel good knowing the games are high quality and will help your child learn.

Safeguard your learning tablet - If you are investing in a learning tablet, you will want to be sure it stays intact. Purchase a case for it or get a tablet made for children like the LeapPad Ultra which is designed tough for kids. The LeapPad Ultra also keeps your kids safe because there is no chance they will wander off and see any inappropriate content. There are simple parental settings which give you control over your child's experience.

Interact with your child while they are learning - Your child will need time to explore the learning tablet on their own and to discover through trial and error what it can do. This is a great way for kids to learn. But be sure to sit for a bit and explore the games with your child. Ask questions, play together and show an interest in what they are doing.

If you are thinking about purchasing a learning tablet for your child, the LeapPad Ultra is available for pre-order the LeapPad Ultra has currently sold out at LeapFrog.com, but you can find participating retailers where you can buy it here. It is the ultimate kids' learning tablet made by a brand you trust. You child can play and draw on the 7 inch screen, take pictures and make videos with the camera and video recorder, boogie with the built in MP3 player and much more.

Hopefully, you will find like we have, that a learning tablet can be a great tool to help kids learn and grow.
