Hosting a Teddy Bear Picnic with Lunchables Jr.

As part of a compensated shop for Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community, we went to Walmart and purchased Lunchables Jr. and created a Backyard Teddy Bear Picnic. All opinions are my own. #LunchablesJr

Have you ever had a teddy bear picnic before? It's easy to set one up. Simply invite some of your favorite bear friends, lay out a blanket and serve some yummy food. I had the bears and the blanket and Lunchables Jr. provided the food. Lunchables Jr. are convenient on-the-go snacktime combos specifically for kids ages 3 and up. They just launched in July are found exclusively at Walmart in the baby food aisle.

To prepare to host a teddy bear picnic, gather up your teddy bear friends. I was shocked that we had this many bears in our possession.

Now you will need some food. Kids and bears get pretty cranky without some snacktime munchies. Moms are familiar with Lunchables and their convenient lunchtime options. Now they have introduced Lunchables Jr. at Walmart (see our shopping trip here). These grab-and-go packages come in 4 varieties - Teddy Bear Picnic, Very Beary Crunch, Ants on a Log and Blueberry Bonanza.

Set up a picnic blanket in the backyard and provide milk and Lunchables Jr. packs. You may notice bears suddenly appear on your picnic blanket. They can smell food a mile away.

The handy packages make it easy to take this snack outside. In the past when we have eaten outside, I have had to make multiple trips inside to get all our stuff. I was able to just stick the Lunchables Jr. in a bag and head out.

All of my kids (even my 3 year old) can open the packages themselves. This makes Lunchables Jr. a great on-the-go alternative for busy days. All families have them. You pick the kids up from school and are rushing to an event, class, or playdate. These would be great to eat in the backseat of the car or at your destination.

I have served my kids peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and bread with peanut butter in the past, but they never have been too crazy about it. I figured they would not touch the peanut butter included in the packages. Was I ever mistaken. I think the act of dipping crackers in the peanut butter was such a novelty for them that they discovered that they liked it!

The Very Beary Crunch variety contains Teddy Grahams, Ritz Bits Cheese Crackers and strawberry flavored dried apple pieces. The apple pieces were the most popular of all the fruits that were included in the Lunchables Jr. packs.

The Ants on a Log variety was a hit with my daughter. It contained honey graham sticks, peanut butter and raisins. My daughter alternated between dipping her long crackers in the peanut butter and spreading the peanut butter on the cracker and adding raisins on top.

You will find an unexpected benefit to inviting teddy bears to a picnic is that they give the best hugs.

We had many special moments at our teddy bear picnic, but I think my most favorite one was that my kids shared their food. I was worried at first that there would be arguing since each of them had a different variety of Lunchables Jr. but that was not the case at all. They were each excited to try out the others' food and had no problem sharing. I even heard "pleases" and "thank yous" - a small miracle indeed!
