I recently had the chance to try out the EmbarK¹² Online Program with my kids. If you have a child aged 3-6 like I do, they can enjoy more than 830 online activities in 12 units covering topics such as math, language and literacy. I do lots of hands on learning activities with my kids and we haven't focused too much on learning games on the computer. My twins started Kindergarten this year and they actually use computers quite a bit. This has been a bit challenging for them as they had not had a lot of previous experience with a computer or mouse. I want my youngest (currently 4) to be more prepared for the computers she will encounter in Kindergarten and the EmbarK¹² Online Program is a great way to do that.
EmbarK¹² is designed to be a supplemental Pre-K program and my 4 year old is using it to strengthen her letters sounds and skills that she will need for Kindergarten. I was surprised that it also included plenty of activities for my Kindergarten aged twins as well. There are beginner and advanced levels in letters and math and the advanced levels were perfect for my 5 year olds.
I was impressed with how the advanced math level included games involving skip counting and telling time, two skills they are learning in Kindergarten.
In addition to literacy and math, there are science, music and art activities. I was impressed with how some of the art activities even included video directions of how to make something and a card maker where kids can create and print out their own cards.
I feel good knowing that the program was created by educational experts. The activities allow for independent and self guided learning for children, while the wide variety of games make learning fun and interactive. The interface was easy for even a child to navigate and understand. One of the side benefits that I have found is that my daughters' mouse skills have improved, as well as her general comfort with the computer.
When I asked the kids what their favorite games were on EmbarK¹² they had different responses. One twin loved the art activities, while the other couldn't get enough of the letter and word bingo games. My yonugest played the animal sounds games over and over.
As you can see, my kids loved working on these Kindergarten readiness programs by K12. Try a sample activity today. They would ask each day if they could play on it and they still haven't had a chance to try all the things it can do. If you would like to try it with your kids, for the next 7 days, you can get a 50% discount a 12 month subscription to the EmbarK¹² Online Program (normally $59, $29.50 with discount) when you use the the promo code: EmbarkSpecial

My 4 year old loves to play online games and puzzles, and the more educational and the more he learns, the better. He will be entering Kindergarten very soon and I want him to be as prepared as possible. I believe a program such as Trial to EmbarK12 will help him to excel.

I would love a chance to try this with my youngest son! Our school department has the kids using Ipads and computers in Kindergarten so any extra exposure to learning through technology is a big bonus!
ReplyDeleteI take care of 2 kids, they are 4 and 5. They love to play on their mom phone a lot, so I know If I can make them play educational games on the computer that would be more than excited about it. One of them doesn't like to learn and the other love it, so for sure he would like to play this games and this way I can capture his attention to start learning the basics.
