As a blogger and mom, photography has become quite important to me. I am attached to my camera. I use it to document the moments of fun and play that occur or the latest recipe I've created. Since my twins were born almost 5 years ago, I have had a DSLR which I have enjoyed. Well, except for a few things. First, it is HEAVY and large. Second, having to plug in to upload my photos all the time can be a real time-consumer when you take as many photos as I do. I've noticed that more and more I was leaving my bulky DSLR home when going places with the kids and just taking photos with my phone's camera. I must confess something here - I am not great with phone cameras. I have had three different makes and models of phones and I have never gotten great pictures from them. So the idea of compact cameras really appeals to me.
I was thrilled to be able to try out the new Samsung WB800F Smart Camera. I headed over to Sam's Club to pick it up and I had high hopes.

Because of $30 Instant Savings at Sam's Club, this compact system camera was only $249. You can read about my entire Sam's Club shopping trip in my Google + Album.

I could not wait to get the camera home and try it out. The camera came in a great bundle that included a case, strap, charger, battery and 8GB SD card.

Now you might be wondering what are Smart Cameras? Well, you've heard of smart phones, right? Samsung Smart Cameras allow users to instantly upload images and videos to various social networks and to other devices. All you need is a Wi-Fi connection -- and if you don't have one, the WB800F can set up its own connection that your smart phone can pick up.

When you activate Autoshare, you can send photos you take directly to your smart phone. You can even download an app for your phone that turns it into a remote. That's right, you can finally get in all those family pictures by using your phone as a remote viewfinder. It was so cool to press a button on my phone and watch the camera zoom in and out.
I love Samsung Auto Backup which I downloaded onto my PC. This allows the photos to be sent directly to my PC. No more plugging in the camera to download photos. If you are a busy mom or blogger or both, you know what a time saver this would be! I never seem to remember to bring my USB cable anywhere I go and with this camera I don't need to worry about that.
I have a feeling I will be using this camera lots, especially as we are out and about. It takes photos and video unlike my DSLR which only took pictures. It is light and compact. Just look at that slim side profile. No more weighing myself down with my bulky DSLR. I think about all the fun times and memories I have missed out on because I didn't want to drag my big camera along. I have no excuses now.
The pop up flash makes it perfect for all light conditions, but hides away when not in use.
The three inch LCD touch screen makes going through the camera's options a breeze.
My husband set it up in no time flat. He is a bit of tech geek and loved all the cool features of this camera which makes me think it would be an awesome Father's day gift for the men out there.
My husband was blown away by the long zoom on this camera. He says the 21x optical zoom is amazing and that it would require different lenses on my DSLR to get the same effect.
So how good is the zoom on the Samsung? Well, this is a photo of my daughter sitting on the sofa in our living room, taken from our kitchen. She's pretty far away huh?
No problem, I'll just zoom in with with my new camera and now you can see her!
If you have kids, then you know getting a great picture of all of them together can be quite harrowing. That is not the case anymore thanks to this camera. The Best Face feature has made taking pictures of my kids easier. It's worth the price just for that!
The Best Face feature takes a series of quick photos of your subjects and then lets you go and pick the best face from each of them.
You can pick the best face from each child and it will meld the images together to form a great picture. No more worrying about someone blinking.
So I've already told you about how this camera is making my blogging life easier with it's awesome Wi-Fi capabilities and how it is helping me create memories with my kids because of it compact, light weight design. But I would be remiss if I didn't mention all the fun things it can do as well.
This camera has lots of cool features and effects. My husband got a big laugh out of the My Magic Frame feature. As you can see he used it to erase my bottom half. I did want to lose weight down there, but this is not exactly what I had in mind.

Then there is the split shot effect. I have never seen this before but my kids I had so much fun taking these photos. My daughter could barely catch her breath from laughing so hard. Split shot lets you take 2-3 photos side by side. She could not get over the fact that there were 3 of her.
Okay, enough fun and games. You're probably wondering how the pictures from wireless cameras compare to those taken with a phone? Here is a photo of my cat taken with my smart phone.
And here is one I took a few seconds later using the Samsung WB800F. Which cat would you rather pet?
So what do you think? This camera has made my life easier both as a busy mom and a blogger. Lots of things claim they will make life easier, but the Samsung Smart Cameras actually do. Are you loving this camera as much as I am? If so, be sure to visit Samsung on Twitter and Facebook.
