Have you had any beautiful summer-like weather yet? We have been blessed with some great weather here in Northern California and have been able to take advantage of it with some outdoor play and swimming. My kids always work up an appetite while swimming and beg me for snacks as soon as they come out of the water. On a recent trip to Walmart, I picked up some summer snacks sure to please - Hot Pockets®, Edy's® Outshine® Fruit & Veggie Bars and Edy's® Outshine® Fruit Bars. Note: in my area Edy's operates under the Dreyer's name.
My kids are really into pineapple so the pineapple flavored Outshine® Fruit Bars seemed like a no-brainer. I am always looking to get more veggies into our bodies and I was excited to try the
Outshine® Fruit & Veggie Bars in Strawberry Rhubarb flavor. When it comes to Hot Pockets®, we are traditionalists and love the Pepperoni Pizza flavor with its garlic seasoned crust.
We hit the pool! My kids are getting to be good swimmers and can be frequently found jumping in the pool. All of that water play sure gets them hungry though.
I decided to use Pepperoni Pizza Hot Pockets® to make a summer snack for my hungry kids. To make them more crowd friendly and fun, I cut them into strips after I heated them, and presented them with a marinara dipping sauce.
When my kids saw the Hot Pockets® spread before them they couldn't get changed out of their swimsuits and into dry clothes fast enough! I love that Hot Pockets® are a snack that provides my kids with good sources of protein such as real cheese and premium meat.
The Hot Pockets® were a hit with the kids and adults alike. They are a great snack to have on hand and just a few go a long way when cut into strips. This time I used a marinara dipping sauce. Next time I serve this fun summer snack, I plan to try them with some pesto sauce for dipping. Yum!
To help cool things off, the kids next enjoyed some Edy's® Outshine® Fruit & Veggie Bars in Strawberry Rhubarb flavor. Oh my goodness, can I just tell you how much I love these things! They are my new obsession. They are made with real fruit and veggies like pear, apple, strawberry, pumpkin, rhubarb, carrots and beets. I must admit, at first, I was a little skeptical that my kids would actually eat them. But they LOVED them!
EDY’S® OUTSHINE® Fruit & Veggie Bars in Strawberry Rhubarb have no artificial colors or flavors and are just 60 calories each, which is music to my ears since I have been enjoying one as a snack each day since I discovered them.
When you are in the dessert and ice cream aisle at Walmart, be sure to check out EDY’S® OUTSHINE® Fruit Bars as well. I like the real bits of pineapple in the pineapple flavored bars and am excited to try Creamy Coconut next.
