Review and Giveaway: The Pine Tree Parable Book ends 12/16

The kids were so happy to receive the book The Pine Tree Parable.  It is a Gold Medallion Book Award Winner, and part of the best-selling Parable Series that has sold over 1.4 million copies. The book, published by Thomas Nelson, is by Liz Curtis Higgs and teaches children the valuable lesson of "love your neighbor as yourself."  With three kids, we talk a lot about sharing in this house.  Usually it involves giving a toy to you sister who will give it back to you later.  But The Pine Tree Parable involves a bigger sacrifice made by a family who grow Christmas trees on their farm.

I know I struggle to keep my kids focused on the true meaning of Christmas.  This book can help you get in the proper mindset to do that.  I love how each page has a relevant Bible passage.  This will be great especially as the kids get older.  My children are young but even they got the basic message of giving and sharing from The Pine Tree Parable.  Want proof?  Here they are sharing the book, without incident.  That's right, no tears were shed and no tantrums were thrown during the review of this book.

Here you see my youngest enjoying the colorful and whimsical illustrations.

Then, the Pine Tree Parable was given to "A" who examines it.

And finally, B, who patiently waited her turn, gets a chance.  B loves reading more than the other girls at this point and she have been taking this book with her everywhere.  EVERYWHERE.  Don't ask.

I know this book will become part of our holiday traditions and will be read for years to come.  It will certainly last for years as it is a sturdy board book. Want a chance to share The Pine Tree Parable with your family?  There are a few ways.

  1. We have The Pumpkin Patch Parable and we love it. I'm sure this book is just as wonderful!

One of my favorite Christmas memories is my oldest son's first Christmas--he was 3 weeks old, and it was just a magical time for us as new parents! My favorite memory of my youngest was the day we dressed him up in a little red Christmas outfit and a tiny Santa hat (he was 4 months old) and he just looked so cute and festive! :)

  6. I'm entering! One of my favorite Christmas memories with my kids is watching them apply tinsel to the tree. They would hold it out in front of them, let go of it, and blow it onto the tree. :-) This looks like a great book. I'm always looking for good books with a good message!
